ABA Therapy
1:1 ABA sessions
Every learner is different, so we design our programs to address your child’s specific needs. All our therapies and services incorporate a best practice approach, including relationship building through play, exposure to new play repertoires, skill-based learning through play, relationship building with peers (through structured activities and with support), and transition to community-based settings.
Kid Mechanix incorporates the following ABA teaching procedures into our programming:
Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
Pivotal Response Training (PRT)
Precision Teaching (PT)
Verbal Behaviour (VB)
Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT)
Direct Instruction (DI)

Group Sessions
Group Sessions involves using the principles of ABA in a small group setting to promote team work, social interactions, conversation skills, following group direction and play skills
School Readiness
Transitions from 1:1 ABA to a larger classroom setting is difficult for many learners. Our school readiness program is a stepping stone to help learners develop the skills they need to thrive in a group setting. In the school readiness groups we aim to expose learners to a small peer group where they can continue to strengthen communication, social, and play skills.
We aim to provide learners with more opportunities to be successful through the use of visuals and setting up the environment for success. Environmental supports such as small group sizes based on age and goals, teacher-based instruction during interactive circle time and group co-operative games, natural environment teaching for play skills (sharing, turn taking, waiting, time on task, etc.), and more.
- Group sessions targeting skills to promote success in a classroom setting
- School readiness targets goals such as, social skill, group skills, play skills, independence skills, pre-academic skills, gross and fine motor skills and daily living skills
Social Skills Group
It can be difficult to enter a new group setting and make friends, as well as to navigate social situations with peers. Our social skills groups are designed to focus on social communication between peers.
- Group sessions targeting language and social skill
- Goals targeted in social groups include:
following group direction,
interactive play (including sharing, turn taking, waiting, and tolerating losing),
non-vocal communication (such as social cues, body language, gestures and facial expressions, perspective taking, emotional regulation, and more),
and extended conversation skills (such as initiating, maintaining, and ending a conversation)

Academic Support
Kid Mechanix can help with academic support and tutoring programs. Our Direct Instruction (DI) educational programs are supported by 35+ years of research. The DI instructional method is one of the most effective methods of learning.
Direct Instruction employs demonstration, interaction, immediate feedback, support, and monitoring to ensure lesson retention. Students progress at their own pace and master each lesson before moving on to gradually more challenging concepts.
Tutoring programs can include (but are not limited to):
Reading and Comprehension Programs
Handwriting and Typing Programs
Math Skills Programs
Grammar and Writing Programs
Extra Homework Help
Regulation Support
Emotional regulation strategies are used to help learners communicate feelings, express emotions and use calming techniques, identify social cues and non-vocal communication (body language, facial expressions, gestures), and perspective taking.
Methods such as situation-based learning, watching online video modeling and role playing scenarios, and more are used.
Is your child receiving support from another professional, such as an Occupational Therapist? During our regulation support programs we work to incorporate identified strategies to help support learners needs.
Consulting
Already enrolled in a program but looking for additional support? Kid Mechanix regularly collaborates with other service providers to ensure consistency (SLP, OT, PT, etc.).
Kid Mechanix can provide in-person and/or virtual consultation with professionals including teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, physical therapists, etc.
Parent Coaching
Both online and in person, Kid Mechanix is proud to offer valuable parent support and coaching from a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) to help your child develop the skills they need to succeed.
Research shows that parent empowerment is critical to the success of all children, and because of this, we aim to provide support from trained and experienced professionals in order to learn the basics so your child can flourish in the community and at home. These sessions can include (but are not limited to) topics such as, challenging behaviour at home, increasing communication and play skills in the natural environment, promoting more independence, and more!
As parents are the expert on their own child, our goal is to bring our skill sets together with implementing, and tracking specific behaviour goals for improvement at home. Parents will be provided with basic training in behaviour principles and strategies to decrease challenging behaviour and increase skills.
